New Age of Aging & Digital Literacy..!

Dear Well Wishers,
Since digital tools have significantly enhanced the quality of life for elderly individuals offering greater independence better access to healthcare and improved social connections. These tools can also help with learning new skills managing finances and staying physically active…

Also the New Age of Aging and digital literacy is about how older adults are increasingly embracing technology and the benefits it brings to their lives, while also addressing the challenges they may face. Digital literacy is key to maintaining independence, engaging in lifelong learning, and improving access to healthcare and social connections…

You must be aware of India Home Selected to Enhance Digital Literacy Among Older Adults Through New National Initiative. IH participation in a new nationwide effort aimed at improving digital literacy among older adults. This initiative, led by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) in collaboration with AT&T, seeks to empower older adults with the essential skills needed to navigate today’s increasingly digital world…

Recently, I read very interesting and informative article on ‘The new age of ageing: Digital literacy for a fulfilled senior life’ inThe South Asian Times local newspaper written by By Himanshu Rath. He said, “Ensuring digital literacy for seniors is not just good policy — it’s a reflection of a compassionate and forward-thinking society.”

In short,
As the world becomes increasingly digital, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no age group is left behind. For seniors, learning to use technology is not just about staying current — it’s about maintaining dignity, autonomy, and purpose. From video calls with grandchildren to managing finances and health online, digital tools offer transformative possibilities for older persons…

While age 60 was considered “old” in previous generations, now 80 is the median age. Today’s older adults are perceived to be more active, open-minded, and curious than the previous generation. To stay young and positive as you age focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle keeping your mind active and staying connected with others. This involves regular exercise a balanced diet engaging in lifelong learning and nurturing social connections. Thanx to our India Home – A center for senior care where we get needed support, assistance and benefits for seniors like us thru several resources…

Stay Safe and Healthy,
Jayant & Veena.
